Chevrolet has confirmed that it’s going to sell a limited number of units of the Trax “Midnight Edition” small crossover come February next year. Betsy Flegg, senior marketing manager for Chevy Crossovers, says that this particular vehicle is proving to be in high demand since dealers have started ordering units sight unseen.
This special edition of the Trax has been developed to particularly appeal to the young crowd while enabling General Motors to retain its footing in the small crossover market that’s gradually increasing across the globe.
Trax isn’t the only vehicle that has received the Midnight treatment, a similar package is already available for the full-size Silverado pickup, the Colorado mid-size pickup as well as the Impala sedan.
Chevrolet saw intense demand for the Silverado Midnight Edition, the package costed as much as $1,995 and yet it was essentially sold out earlier this year with all 7,800 units flying off the proverbial shelves. Even the Colorado Midnight Edition has received 1,900 dealer orders so far despite the fact that it has only been around for a couple of months.
The fact that dealers are clamoring to get their hands on the Trax Midnight Edition shows that it may also exhibit the same performance as its mid-size and full-size counterparts. Trax is going to be the first crossover to receive the blackout look which replaces chrome on the LTZ trim level. The vehicle also gets custom black rims in this $500 package as well as black seats with light gray accents.
