Companies like Samsung, Motorola, LG and even Apple have released smartwatches that cost a few hundred dollars, the kind of money that one can understand spending on a piece of technology that will be outdated in two years at most. Then you have the traditional Swiss manufacturers who have jumped on the smartwatch bandwagon as well but have added their own twist to it, thereby making the products expensive to say the least. Breitling is one of those manufacturers that’s out with an expensive new smartwatch today.
Breitling is commonly known for making watches better suited to aviators, or people who would like to own a watch with special functions that only aviators can really feel the need for, and it’s not uncommon for a Breitling to cost several thousand dollars at the very least.
The Exospace B55 is no exception, though it’s not really a powerful smartwatch as the Tag Heuer Connected. It’s capable of hooking up with a smartphone to display email, message or phone call notifications as well as those of upcoming appointments. That’s about it. It doesn’t run a wearable OS like Android Wear and doesn’t support apps.
However the watch is fashioned out of titanium and features a SuperQuartz movement, electronic tachymeter, a chronograph capable of recording up to 50 split times and a countdown/countup system. It can also measure “block times” and flight times aside from memorizing departure and arrival date/time and takeoff/landing times.
All of this does come at a price though, about $9,000 to be precise. If you’re looking for a proper smartwatch with the prestige that comes with a traditional Swiss manufacturer, better go with the Tag Heuer Connected instead.
