Apple To Start Selling Accessibility Accessories Next Year

Apple has always championed the idea of making their products as accessible as possible to people with different kinds of disabilities. So much so that last year Apple’s CEO Tim Cook got a bit heated when he said that creating accessible devices was the right thing to do, even if it doesn’t necessarily increase revenue.

The Cupertino company has also in the past been given awards for their efforts, and now according to a report from Mac Otakara (via 9to5Mac), it has been suggested that in 2016, Apple will start selling accessibility accessories via its stores, both online and offline. Basically these are accessories created for those with disabilities.

At the moment it is unclear as to what kind of accessories we might be looking at, but off the top of our heads we’re thinking maybe devices like hearing aids. For example there are hearing aids out there like ReSound that go beyond the traditional hearing aid by being able to pair and link with mobile devices like the iPhone.

In any case take it with a grain of salt for now but given Apple’s history with creating accessible products and features, we suppose it shouldn’t really come as a surprise that they would expand their efforts to accessories and peripherals.
