Apple announced today that it has made some executive promotions within the company with veteran executive Phil Schiller, who is a regular at the company’s keynotes, being put in charge of the App Store. Schiller will now lead the App Store across all of the company’s platforms which include desktop, mobile and TV. Apple considers the App Store to be an important part of its business and as such as trusted Schiller with a massive responsibility, all eyes will now be on him to see how he manages to take things from here.

For many, many years Schiller has served Apple as its worldwide marketing head and more recently has proven to be a bridge between Apple and third-party developers.

Before the lead was handed to Phil Schiller the App Store was headed by Eddy Cue, the senior vice president of internet services at Apple. He’s also looks after iCloud, Siri, iTunes and Apple Music so you can imagine that his plate is already a bit too full.

In today’s press release Apple also mentioned that there are now more than 11 million developers creating apps for its devices which include the iOS lineup, Macs, Apple Watch and also the Apple TV. That being said there’s still much to be done to further evolve the App Store and that’s what Schiller will be focusing on starting today. Best of luck, Mr. Schiller!
