Google later acquired the company which also saw Rubin lead the Android division at Google for years to come before he eventually left to do his own thing. However according to a report from The Information (paywall; via Droid-Life), it has been suggested that Rubin is interested in getting back into the phone business again.
The report claims that Rubin is apparently looking to start a new phone company and has reportedly been trying to recruit personnel to help him build it. It is unclear as to what Rubin might have planned for this company especially when you consider that there are so many more established brands out there.
Let’s not forget there is also huge competition from Chinese companies on the rise like Xiaomi and Huawei, so entering into the business at this point in time certainly does seem a bit risky, but what say you? Would a smartphone built by the “father” of Android be something you might be interested in?
