A few days back Samsung announced that it was seeking beta testers for the upcoming Marshmallow update, the beta program is limited to the United Kingdom and South Korea, with only the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge being supported. Both of these handsets also support the consumer version of the Gear VR and if you happen to have updated to the beta firmware, bear in mind that Android 6.0 beta for Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge breaks support for Gear VR.
It’s mentioned in the Galaxy Care beta app that Android 6.0 Marshmallow beta cannot connect with Gear VR, adding that the support for the virtual reality headset will be resumed when the official public release of this firmware takes place.
Samsung is yet to confirm though when it’s going to officially release Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the 2015 flagship lineup of Galaxy smartphones. It hasn’t even said if the beta program will be expanded to cover markets like North America.
It goes without saying that countless users are waiting for this update to arrive since Marshmallow has been out for a couple of months now, but OEMs have held up the update as usual, Samsung is only expected to start sending it out by early next year.
