Amazon has announced some figures which show that the online retailer is very much ahead of the pack when it comes to online shopping. It’s celebrating a record=setting holiday for Prime as its $99 per year membership program saw more than three million new members join from across the globe during the third week of December alone. It ended up shipping over 200 million more items for free with Prime over the holiday season.
The $99 Amazon Prime membership provides members with free two-day delivery on millions of items aside from access to the company’s huge library of entertainment content which includes movies, TV shows, music as well as free cloud storage and much more.
It was also a good holiday season for the company’s original series, Amazon says that Prime members made The Man in the High Castle the most watched TV season on Prime Video, members also doubled their total viewing hours on Prime Video compared to last year.
Amazon’s own devices enjoyed some Christmas love as well, the company sold millions of devices with the new Fire tablet becoming the $1 best-selling, most gifted and most wished-for product across the huge variety of items available on Amazon.
Christmas Eve turned out to be the biggest day ever for Prime Now deliveries with the last order being delivered at 11:59 pm to a customer in San Antonio, Texas. Prime members shopping from mobile devices more than doubled this holiday season in the United States.
