New handsets are released from time to time, that is for sure, although certain lines do seem to have a longer ‘dynasty’, so to speak, than the others due to the success factor. With that, the OnePlus 2 that has been released for a few months already might very well see a successor down the road as an alleged render of the yet-to-be-announced-if-true OnePlus 3 has been leaked. In this particular leak, several key design changes were revealed, as you can see above as well as right in the extended post.
For instance, the images depict a brushed metal back as opposed to the now familiar sandstone-inspired panels that were found on both the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2. Heck, even this particular material appeared on the recently announced OnePlus iPhone 6/6s case, hence it would definitely a move away from tradition if this were to be true. Of course, the OnePlus X did set a precedent since that handset arrived in a choice of glass or ceramic bodies.
Apart from that, it looks as though the dedicated fingerprint reader that is located on the front is no longer there, and maybe something more sophisticated such as iris scanning might have been thrown into the mix – no one really knows. We will just have to sit tight and wait for an official announcement from OnePlus concerning the OnePlus 3.
