Scalable 3D Touch For iPad Only Arriving After iPhone 7 [Rumor]

ipad mini 4 handYesterday it was reported that the next iPad Air will not be getting 3D Touch. We suppose given the size of the display, it makes sense. After all if Apple had created a larger 3D Touch, wouldn’t they have debuted it with the iPad mini 4 or the iPad Pro? That being said, we might have a rough timeframe to look forward to.

According to a report from AppleInsider, they have learnt from their source that Apple is working on a scalable version of 3D Touch that could eventually find its way into the company’s iPad lineup. However the bad news is that it won’t be debuting anytime soon, and that if Apple were to launch it, chances are it will only take place after the launch of the iPhone 7.

The iPhone 7 is presumed to be launched in September/October 2016 so if this technology is announced, we can only assume it will be towards the later part of the year. In fact that would actually be pretty nice timing since Q4 is typically when Apple launches new iPad models, but of course this is just speculation for now.

For those unfamiliar with 3D Touch, this is where Apple’s iPhones come with pressure-sensitive displays, where pressing down harder on the screen will pull up different functions and menus. It has also been making its way into Android handsets, with many rumors claiming that 2016’s Android phones will see the incorporation of the technology.
