While Apple is getting a lot of attention in the past few years with the introduction of Touch ID, let’s not forget that there were companies who in the past had tried similar technology. One of those companies is none other than Motorola who debuted a fingerprint sensor in the original Motorola Atrix 4G.
However it seems that the technology did not take back then, which might explain why phones never really adopted it until Apple came along with Touch ID. However all of that could soon change because according to a new rumor, Motorola is said to be working on fingerprint technology for its 2016 Moto X.
Given that so many phones these days come with fingerprint sensors by default, it shouldn’t really come as a surprise to learn that Motorola could finally be coming on board the bandwagon. It is unclear as to why Motorola has taken so long to embrace the technology (again), but we suppose better late than never, right?
In any case it might be too early to tell given that the 2015 Moto X handsets are less than half a year old. However it has not stopped the rumor mill from churning out new information. Just recently we managed to catch a glimpse at the alleged chassis of the 2016 Moto X where it showed off what appeared to be a heat pipe.
