If you have ever built your own computer from scratch before, you might be familiar with a brand called ZOTAC. The company specializes in motherboards. However if you might recall, a couple of years ago Valve announced that ZOTAC would actually be one of the companies that would be making Steam Machines.
For those curious about ZOTAC’s offering, the company has officially announced the ZOTAC NEN. This is the company’s first Steam Machine and according to them, “We are proud to have been an integral partner in turning the rumors into reality, presenting the most powerful small form Steam Machine.”
We’re not sure how accurate their claims are, but that being said, the NEN does pack some impressive hardware under its hood. It will be powered by a 6th-gen Intel Core i5-6400T Skylake processor clocked at 2.2GHz, but it can reach up to speeds of 2.8GHz. It will feature an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 GPU with 3GB of VRAM, 8GB of storage, 1TB SATA HDD with a slot for an additional SSD, and will come with SteamOS preinstalled and will also be bundled with one Steam Controller.
The company is boasting that the NEN will be able to operate fairly silently, thanks to the use of dual radial coolers that helps keep the hardware from overheating. Unfortunately there was no mention of pricing or availability, but to learn more hit up ZOTAC’s website for the details.
