Samsung confirmed earlier this year that it will soon release the consumer version of the Gear VR headset. About a week back the company started accepting pre-orders for this virtual reality headset. It’s a great value at $99 though you do need a Samsung smartphone for it to function. Nevertheless there appears to have been quite some demand for it because the Gear VR has sold out across both Amazon and Best Buy.
Listings for the Gear VR on Amazon and Best Buy now say that the virtual reality headset is out of stock, Amazon’s listing also mentions that it will update customers about estimated delivery dates once it has more information about availability.
If you absolutely must have this virtual reality headset then it appears that they only online location to purchase one is Samsung’s own website, the company does provide one-day delivery. T-Mobile will also be selling the Gear VR later in the week.
In a statement provided to TechCrunch a spokesperson for Samsung said that the company is “delighted with the overwhelmingly positive response Gear VR has received from reviewers and eager buyers alike,” adding that the company is working hard to fulfill all orders as quickly as it possibly can.
Gear VR is priced at $99 and is only compatible with a handful of Samsung devices, its 2015 flagships to be precise.
