Hangouts has grown to become a robust cross-platform messaging platform that allows users to communicate over text, voice and video calls. Today Google announced that Hangouts is receiving a new update which eliminates the need for the other party to have a Google account if you’re making a video call. It was previously possible to add people to Hangouts by calling their phone but the process is much more simple now with this new update.
This actually works with both audio and video calls, Hangouts users can invite the other party to participate in the call by just sending them a link, they simply click on that link to join the video or voice call without having to create a Google account. It works instantly, no need for filling in forms or making an account first.
Google envisages that this minor change is going to prove very helpful particularly for businesses. For example if one needs to have a voice or video call with their supplier they only need to send them a link, the Hangouts user gets a prompt to accept or deny their entry when they’re using Hangouts on the web, mobile or Chromebox for that meeting.
Moreover with security features like locking video meetings to people within a particular organization as well as the ability to mute and eject participants, businesses will always find the right level of security while effortlessly being able to conduct meetings over voice and video through Hangouts. This feature is now being rolled out for all users across the globe.
