Ever since Apple debuted 3D Touch for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, many have heralded the feature to be the future of how we interact with our devices. It also led to a ton of rumors and reports that many companies would be hopping on board the bandwagon, with Samsung being named one of them.
However it looks like Sony might want in on the fun as well because according to a report from MobiPicker, it has been rumored that Sony could introduce a pressure-sensitive display to the upcoming Sony Xperia Z6. Right now the company’s latest flagship is the Xperia Z5, so assuming Sony is going to keep doing what they’re doing, the Xperia Z6 will most likely be their next phone.
According to MobiPicker’s source, they claim that Sony will incorporate their own version of a pressure-sensitive display. Based on this it seems to suggest that Sony might try to create their own display, as opposed to relying on third-party suppliers like Synaptics who not too long ago announced pressure-sensitive display components.
Of course given that this is a rumor it should be best taken with a grain of salt for now, but with phones like the Huawei Mate S already sporting a similar feature, it wouldn’t really be a surprise to see more OEMs get on board with the idea.
