Xiaomi’s products have largely been Android-based, but it looks like with the company’s recently announced Mi Pad 2, the Chinese company will be offering the tablet in either Android or Windows 10. So for customers who are in the market for a very affordable Windows 10 tablet, the Mi Pad 2 could be worth checking out.
So what can we expect from the tablet? According to Xiaomi, the Mi Pad 2 will feature a 7.9-inch IPS 2048×1536 display, which should make for a pretty sharp display given its size and resolution. It will also sport a full metal build and under the hood, an Intel Atom processor clocked at 2.24GHz can be found with Intel HD graphics.
There will be 2GB of RAM, an 8MP rear-facing camera, a 5MP front-facing camera, a 6,190mAh battery with 5V/2A fast charging, and will be available in 16GB or 64GB options. Like we said, customers can choose if they want to install Android or Windows 10 on it. Note that you will have to choose a model at the start as this is not a dual-booting tablet.
In terms of price, the 16GB model will retail for RMB 999, while the 64GB model will go for RMB 1,299 which is roughly $156 and $203 respectively after conversion. However Xiaomi points out that the Windows 10 version will only be available in a 64GB configuration. The tablet is expected to go on sale late December.
