Verizon Releases Android 5.1 For Original Moto G

Verizon isn’t really known for its speed when it comes to sending out software updates for Android devices, like other carriers, it too holds up software updates for a while before rolling them out to end users. Those who own the original Moto G on Verizon have a new update to look forward to today as Big Red is finally sending out Android 5.1 Lollipop for this device.

Many would have thought that it wouldn’t take too much time for this update to arrive, considering that Motorola released it for unlocked units of the original Moto G back in July this year. Verizon has taken nearly four months to get this update ready and out the door so that users could get on the latest iteration of Lollipop.

Original Moto G owners on Verizon will immediately notice the new and improved user interface once they have installed software version 221.26.5.falcon_cdma.Verizon.en.US on their handset. Aside from Material Design and improvements to the notification experience, Lollipop also includes several new features and improvements for the overall system to provide a much better user experience.

Some very crucial security patches are also included in this update that will safeguard users against vulnerabilities like Stagefright, it goes without saying that when the update arrives you should not waste any time in getting onboard, because having those security patches is certainly much more important than getting that fresh coat of paint.
