The concept of instant messaging has been around for a while now, so we have to wonder how come it took Twitch so long before they introduced private messaging to its platform, but then again better late than never we suppose. The private messaging feature called Whisper was launched June this year, and it looks like it’s finally making its way onto mobile.
Twitch has officially announced that the Whisper feature on its desktop platform will be arriving on mobile devices. According to Twitch, “Slide into your friends’ DMs on the go with our first phase of whispers on your mobile device! Starting today, a small sample size of Android users will automatically gain access to our updated whispers functionality.”
As Twitch states, the feature will only be available for Android at the start, and once it has rolled out to enough users and the company has gotten enough feedback, then they will begin pushing it out to iOS users. “We will continue to roll this out to more and more users until we have gathered enough feedback for a full launch. After we collect enough feedback from our Android users during this soft launch, we will follow things up by getting our iOS friends in on the fun.”
For users who have been selected to take part in the initial rollout, the updated Twitch will be available to you. If you don’t see it yet, fret not as we’re sure that it will eventually make its way to you and other users.
