If you’re tired of watching Twitch on your monitor and want to take it to the living room where maybe you have a 55-inch TV available, you might be pleased to learn that in the latest Twitch update, the company has updated the app in which it will now support Android TV, so watching streams on your TV in the living room will now be possible.
The update will bump the app up to version 4.5.1 which will now support Android TV devices. Prior to this, Twitch was available on Amazon’s Fire TV which we guess isn’t surprising given that Amazon owns Twitch, but it looks like support for non-Fire TV devices has been included at long last.
That being said, Android Police points out that using Twitch on the Android TV is a pretty standard experience, although playback controls are a little odd and could take some getting used to. Also note that at this time of writing, the latest version of Twitch isn’t available in the Google Play Store just yet.
If you can’t wait for Twitch to push out the update, you can always hop on over to APK Mirror to download the latest version, but you will have to install it manually so if you’re unfamiliar with the process, perhaps waiting for the official update via Google Play might be a good idea.
