A report from Variety has revealed that Tidal has announced that they will be getting into original scripted and unscripted programming. There will be two new series that the company has planned for now. One is a Brooklyn street-life drama titled “Money & Violence” in which the show’s second season will be aired via Tidal, and the other is “No Small Talk”, an unscripted show that showcases up and coming comedians.
This isn’t the first time Tidal will be getting into videos as the platform currently offers more than 70 exclusive music videos, along with short films and on-demand videos of livestreams done in the past. However this will be the first time the company will be taking on original content and will no doubt find themselves in a competitive space.
Right now companies like Netflix and Amazon have also offered original content of their own, and let’s not forget the recently launched YouTube Red in which original content will also be offered at a fee of $9.99 a month. There have also been talks about Apple possibly looking into original content for the Apple TV, although that has not been confirmed.
