tmo_signT-Mobile had once announced that they would never raise your bill, and for the most part that is true for existing customers. However if you’re not a T-Mobile customer and you’re looking to join the carrier’s network, it looks like you won’t be able to enjoy the same rates that existing customers are enjoying at the moment.

Last week the carrier announced some new plans and also the Binge On video streaming feature. However what they did not announce was the fact that they raised the price of their unlimited data plan. The hike isn’t that much but when you add it up for the entire year, you could end up paying a fair bit.

The unlimited plan used to cost $30 for the data alone, but with the price hike of $15, it will now set customers back $45 a month. Add that to the cost of the carrier’s Simple Choice plan, this means that it will cost customers $95 a month for a single line. However we suppose the upside here is that T-Mobile will double the data that customers can use for WiFi hotspots, up from 7GB to 14GB.

If you tend to tether often then we guess this might not be such a bad idea, but for those who don’t, this increase in price does seem a bit expensive. Note that this price hike is only for new customers. Existing customers will continue to enjoy the rates that they are paying now.
