Gaming consoles are almost always among the hottest gifts during the holiday season. Countless units are sold during this time as people either pick one up for themselves or as gifts for friends and family. Both Sony and Microsoft have launched their Black Friday deals for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One respectively, both have stuck with the $299 price tag, Sony has followed up with a TV ad that touts the PlayStation 4 as the “Best Place to Play 2015.”
It goes without saying that Sony would prefer that you picked its console over the Xbox One this holiday season, it even announced a couple of days ago that so far more than 30 million PS4 units have been sold across the globe since the console was released in 2013, boasting about the popularity of its gaming machine.
Both PlayStation and Xbox have their fan bases that are not likely to switch consoles, some really don’t care about loyalties to a gaming platform and often purchase both consoles, so the holidays really are a great time to experience what you’ve been missing out on if you only have the one console.
If PlayStation 4 has high sales volumes going for it then the Xbox One has backwards compatibility which means that supported Xbox 360 titles can be played on the current-gen console. The PS4 offers no such features though Sony has promised PS2 emulation down the road.
It all comes down to the customer, and if you’re out in the market during the holidays for a new console, $300 will get you both a PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. You just have to choose between the two, which can always be a bit confusing.
