Ever since it was rumored that Samsung will unveil the Galaxy S7 ahead of schedule in January 2016 we are getting new rumors and reports about the upcoming handset every other day. It was reported recently that Samsung is in talks with Sony for the Xperia Z5’s camera sensor, apparently it wanted to use that sensor in the Galaxy S7, but yesterday it was said that perhaps Samsung will go with its own 12 megapixel camera that has a 1/2 inch sensor. Samsung recently got a new trademark and it might possibly be for the Galaxy S7’s camera.

Samsung has long used ISOCELL cameras for its smartphones, and at one point it was believed that the Galaxy S7 would come with a 20 megapixel ISOCELL camera but that doesn’t appear to be the case now as far as recent reports go.

Word on the street now is that Samsung isn’t going to source the camera sensor from Sony, instead it’s going to use its own 12 megapixel camera with a 1/2 inch sensor, larger pixels coupled with the camera’s ability to capture more light should result in a significant improvement in imaging performance.

A few days back Samsung was awarded a trademark for the term BRITECELL, the trademark’s description notes that it’s for a smartphone’s image sensor, from the looks of it BRITECELL could take the baton from ISOCELL which has prominently featured in previous Samsung devices.

Samsung has obviously not yet commented on what it’s next flagship smartphone is going to tout under the hood.
