Razer Doubling Down On Android & Forge TV

razer forge tvEarlier it was discovered that Razer’s Android gaming console the Forge TV was no longer available for purchase via Google Play. This has led to speculation as to why that might be, and what it could mean, although the logical conclusion here is that the console might have run its course and will no longer be offered.

However for those who might be disappointed, fret not because Razer has not given up. According to a statement Razer made to the folks at Engadget, it seems that if anything, the company will be doubling down on their efforts on creating an Android gaming experience in the living room, and that they believe that Forge TV could even be a spiritual successor to the OUYA.

According to Razer, “Following our acquisition of OUYA, we’ve been focused on integrating the content we inherited and building a spiritual successor to OUYA with the Forge TV. We’re doubling-down on Android gaming in the living room and looking forward to producing the world’s largest library of Android TV games, from AAA to indie.”

The company went on to state that they will actually be ramping up production and will have more news to share soon. For those unfamiliar, earlier this year Razer acquired OUYA. Given that the Forge TV and the OUYA share some similarities in concept and functionality, we wouldn’t be surprised if Razer were to unveil new hardware in the near future, like an upgrade Forge TV.
