Back in August, Qualcomm officially announced the Snapdragon 820 but unfortunately details of the chipset weren’t shared. For those curious about the upcoming chipset, fret not because according to Qualcomm’s Tim McDonough, it seems that we should be able to find out all the details tomorrow.
McDonough announced that the Snapdragon 820 will be officially debuting tomorrow and that in addition to the announcement, he will be fielding questions from the public via Qualcomm’s Twitter account, so for those curious about the chipset and what it can or cannot do, you guys can ask McDonough tomorrow when the Q&A kicks off at 12:15pm ET.
Like we said, not much is known about the Snapdragon 820 at the moment, although last we heard, there were at least 30 smartphone OEMs who have been testing the chipset. While it hasn’t been confirmed, there are reports that the Samsung Galaxy S7 could be powered by the Snapdragon 820.
However given that the Snapdragon 810 was reportedly prone to overheating, it seems that some are a bit worried that the same would happen to the Snapdragon 820, a fear in which Qualcomm has attempted to allay. Whether or not the same problems will return remains to be seen, but hopefully more will be revealed tomorrow.
