If your significant other is out of town or thousands of miles away you can call, text or email them to stay in touch but those modes of conversation don’t quite provide the feeling of “closeness” that you might be yearning for, and that’s something that Pillow Talk aims to fix. It’s essentially the same feature as the Apple Watch, it lets you share your heartbeat with fellow users, but designed with the express purpose of staying connected with your loved ones by sharing your heartbeat.
You and your partner wear the Pillow Talk wristband and tuck the speaker under your pillow, this allows both of you to hear real time heartbeat over the pillow. “By sharing something so intimate with each other, you can feel connected in a unique and special way,” says the company behind this project.
The companion smartphone app takes care of all the technical bits, when the band is on and the speaker is under the pillow you’re paired with your partner and that’s really the only thing that should matter at that time.
This is a crowdfunding project on Kickstarter right now, looking to raise £75,000 in about 29 days. You can pledge £52 right now to get one wristband and one speaker, you’ll obviously need two, but even then the setup will prove to be cheaper than an Apple Watch, but then again it’s capable of doing so much more than just relaying your heartbeat.
