According to a report from TechCrunch, it seems that Opera Max will soon expand to help you save data while streaming music. The company claims that the feature will allow you to save as much as 50% of data when streaming from sources such as YouTube Music, Pandora, Slacker Radio, Gaana, and Saavn.
Unfortunately other platforms like Tidal, Spotify, or Apple Music was mentioned, but perhaps support for those might be added in the future. The reason those platforms were listed is because according to Opera product manager Sergey Lossev, “Pandora, Slacker Radio, Gaana, Saavn, and YouTube Music are the first five apps that passed our quality-assurance test, but we will support more music-streaming apps in the near future.”
Lossev adds, “We keep fine tuning the streaming-audio-optimization technology in Opera Max, so people can save more data while enjoying good audio quality.” In the meantime the company has estimated that come 2017, they will have Opera Max installed on as many as 100 million devices.
