If you have bought any of OnePlus’ handsets like the OnePlus One, OnePlus 2, or the OnePlus X, you’ll realize that they are still running on the previous version of Android, or at least they are running on ROMs that are based on the previous Android build which is Lollipop. So the question is when will they be upgraded to Marshmallow?
For those who are curious and eager for the latest update, fret not as OnePlus has revealed their update schedule. According to a post on the OnePlus forums by the company’s co-founder Carl Pei, both the OnePlus One and OnePlus 2 are scheduled to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update in Q1 of 2016.
The OnePlus One is powered by Cyanogen OS but the company also notes that they will be updating the community build of OxygenOS when time allows, so if you want Android 6.0 you will need to keep using Cyanogen OS for now. As for the newly launched OnePlus X, Pei did not have any specific dates or timeframe for the update yet.
According to him, “We are working hard to bring Marshmallow as soon as possible to the OnePlus X, and will update you on a time frame at a later time.” Either way we guess if you’re the owner of either the OnePlus One or OnePlus 2 flagships, you can expect the updates to drop early next year assuming there are no delays in the process.
