OnePlus 2 To Receive Official CyanogenMod

CyanogenMod was originally geared to target those who loved to root and play around with their Android-powered handsets, and the OnePlus One was a pretty decent candidate for such a handset. While all good things must come to an end, it would also mean that there is always room for a successor, and the OnePlus 2 has also made itself more than a decent replacement where the modding community is concerned. However, there has been no official CyanogenMod released for the handset unlike for its predecessor, at least not until the near future.

The OnePlus 2 has been seen on the CyanogenMod official Git repository already, and theoretically speaking, whatever future builds that hail from this particular repository will most probably bring with it a whole lot of benefit thanks to the community’s support and quality control. Being an open-source port, it will obviously be self-driven by its community, although the presence of support as well as a proper workflow would remain in order to benefit the user.

It looks like there are two separate branches of CyanogenMod, with one of them being 12.2 and will be based on Android 5.1.1, whereas the other will fall back on the most recent CM 13, which would be the Android 6.0 Marshmallow code base.
