One of the unique features of the Wii U would be its GamePad. Basically the GamePad acts as a secondary display for the console, kind of like how the DS-series of handheld consoles has two screens. One primary screen and the secondary screen in which players can interact with via the stylus.
The GamePad also allows gamers to continue their game if someone else is using the TV. However for the longest time ever, the GamePad has only been bundled with the console and never sold separately, at least until now. According to the folks at Kotaku, they have confirmed that Nintendo will be selling the GamePad as a separate device.
According to their report, Nintendo is expected to begin selling the GamePad by itself starting November 24. However we should note that as it stands, the GamePad will only be available standalone in Japan where it will be priced at roughly $104. No word on whether Nintendo will expand this offer to other countries, but hopefully they do.
That being said, only one GamePad can be used per Wii U console, so there really is no reason for gamers to purchase two. However if you have a busted up GamePad or if you want one as a spare, then this would be a great idea. Either way check back with us at a later date to see if there will be US availability.
