The Nikon D4 was announced several years ago and it has since been replaced by upgraded models of it. However if you wanted a true successor, then you probably want the Nikon D5 whose alleged specs were leaked earlier this year. Now we can’t confirm whether or not the specs are real, but in the meantime we do have some good news to share.
Nikon has officially announced that the Nikon D5 is real and that it is currently in the works. However pricing, release date, pictures, and specs aren’t available at the moment but Nikon did state that they will be revealed in due time. For now we suppose photographers who are thinking of their next DSLR can opt to wait if they want to see what the Nikon D5 will be packing under the hood.
According to Nikon whose description probably did not help much, “The Nikon D5 will offer professional photographers an even higher level of performance and image quality. When combined with these advanced accessories and the vast lineup of existing NIKKOR lenses, Nikon is offering photographers new levels of imaging expression.”
In the meantime based on what we had heard previously, one of the Nikon D5’s specs include 4K video capture, a native high ISO of 102,400, a 20MP FX sensor, 173 autofocus points, 15fps shooting, and it is expected to share a design similar to the D4S. Note that these rumored specs were from June earlier this year, so for all we know they could be changed by now assuming they were even real to begin with.
