However it seems that over in Nepal, a doctor by the name of Sanduk Ruit has performed as many 100,000 eye surgeries to date, restoring the sight to a very good majority of his patients. All of this was done in just 5 minutes per eye and it only cost that patient $25. This is thanks to Dr. Ruit who has pioneered a simple cataract microsurgery technique that is quick and cheap.
That being said one might be quick to dismiss this as false, and it is true that Dr. Ruit had his fair share of skeptics, but it turns out that his method is legit with a 98% success rate after a 6-month follow-up. This was thanks to the American Journal of Ophthalmology who published a study of a randomized trial in which Dr. Ruit’s method had the same outcome as Western machines.
In fact Dr. Ruit’s method is so successful that over in the US, medical schools are now teaching his “Nepal method”.
