Over the years we’ve seen many versions of Mortal Kombat being released, with the latest being Mortal Kombat X. The game features pretty amazing graphics and fight sequences and moves that are even more brutal and gory compared to before. However we’re sure many gamers out there can agree that there was nothing quite like the original Mortal Kombat from back in the day.
In fact if you’re wondering why the folks at NetherRealm or Warner Bros. did not bother creating a HD version of the game, it turns out that they almost did. NetherRealm’s Ed Boon recently posted a screenshot on Twitter which he claims came from the HD remake of the original Mortal Kombat, but safe to say that the game was never realized.
According to Boon’s post, “Hi-Res Kombat …. one of these days I’ll post an article explaining how the MK HD edition never came to be…..” It’s a bit hard to tell from the screenshot but if you’ve ever played the original, you’ll know just how cleaned up this image is compared to the game back in the day. Too bad it was never turned into an actual game, but what say you? Would a HD version of the original Mortal Kombat be something of interest to you?
