Misfit is a company that you should be familiar with if you are keep track of the wearables scene. The company’s Shine series of fitness trackers are pretty well known for their low-profile design, thus resulting a fitness tracker that isn’t overly bulky or complicated to use, providing just the right amount of information.
However could Misfit be eyeing other types of wearables? The answer is yes. This is according to the company’s CEO Sonny Vu who recently spoke with the folks at Wearable. According to Vu, he promises that the company will be unveiling two new wearables CES 2016 which kicks off in January 2016, and he also teased that only one of those two devices will be a tracker.
According to Vu, “We are launching two new wearables at CES and only one of them is an activity tracker. CES is going to be big for us, we are also announcing a new brand partnership there. But I don’t know that we’re going to do anything with a display soon. There just isn’t a display that is low power enough.”
Based on his statement, it sounds like a smartwatch would be off the table since that would require a display. We’re not sure what other kinds of wearable Misfit might have in mind, but it would definitely be interesting to see the company expand beyond your typical tracker. Either way for those interested and curious, check back with us during CES 2016 for the details.
