In a press release from Volvo, it has been announced that both Microsoft and Volvo will be working together with regards to automotive technology. For starters Volvo will be looking to integrate Microsoft’s HoloLens into the car-buying experience. For example in the future, car sales might not need to have the actual car there.
Pop booths and sales people could let potential customers wear the HoloLens and be able to interact with the car even from a remote distance. Other potential uses could allow a customer to see the car’s specs and features laid out in front of them instead of having to browse through a brochure.
There are also potential plans to work together with regards to autonomous driving and its safety features. According to Scott Erickson, Senior Director, Microsoft HoloLens at Microsoft Corp, “We are thrilled to be working with Volvo Cars to reimagine what is possible in car design, discovery and purchasing. We are excited to be at this intersection of technology and human-centric design with Volvo.”
