Basically there are a ton of passwords we all have to remember. However speaking in Mumbai, Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella envisions a future in which passwords will take a backseat to other methods of security, such as biometrics. According to Nadella, “One of the biggest security issues is passwords. One of the things that we are working on is a world where passwords are not going to be the ones that you know can get hacked but you really have other biometrics that really help us secure our computing interfaces.”
As it stands, Microsoft has introduced biometric security to some of its products. For example in Windows 10, Microsoft has introduced iris-scanning technology so that users can log in securely, even if they forgot their password. Biometrics also allows users to secure their device in the event that it is stolen, the thief won’t be able to break into it, or at least has a hard time doing so.
Whether or not Microsoft will be successful in creating such a world remains to be seen, but what say you? Can you see traditional passwords still being used in the future?
