Who would have thought that there would be a samurai sword-wielding person at an Apple Store? After all, we geeks as well as Apple fans are peaceful folks, and would generally run away from something like a sword, especially when you consider how samurai swords have a legendary reputation when it comes to their sharpness – although if it were a lightsaber, our perception would probably change. Well, the unthinkable happened today, as a man was seen swinging and dropping a Samurai sword on the stairs at the Fifth Avenue Apple Store.
According to the police, this man strode into the Apple Store, and while he was on the ground floor of the General Motors Building at 767 Fifth Ave., he issued a threat that he would commit suicide before he drew the sword and began to wave it around. Sporting a hat and a pair of sunglasses, he swung the sword before dropping it to the floor – not sure whether that was out of clumsiness, on purpose, or his hand was simply too sweaty to use the sword correctly.
He coolly picked it up before continuing with the swinging action as he descended. A couple of off-duty police officers answered the call of duty as they subdued the man, before sending him off to the Bellevue Hospital Center. Nobody was injured throughout the incident, and neither was it related to a terrorist act. All’s well that ends well, I guess.
