Both the recently launched Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL are pretty amazing phones in their own right. They both pack some serious hardware under the hood with specs that rival some Android devices. However it seems that less than a month since both phones were announced, it looks like retailers have begun slashing prices.
A couple of weeks ago we reported that Microsoft in the UK had slashed the price of both phones, and now it looks like Amazon France has similarly discounted both handsets. Prior to the discount, both phones were priced at 599 Euro and 699 Euro respectively. However after the discount, they are now priced at 562.49 Euro and 649 Euro respectively.
We’re not sure why they are being discounted this early on into their life cycle. Usually this happens later when either the phones aren’t selling well, or if the company is hoping to revitalize sales and clear inventory ahead of a new product launch. It is possible that maybe due to currency fluctuations that Microsoft is slashing prices to keep it in line with today’s money.
Like we said based on specs alone, both phones are serious competitors. We suppose if there is one thing holding users back would be its ecosystem. In any case it’s too early to call both phones a flop just yet, so we guess we’ll just have to wait for the official numbers to see how both phone have done.
