From what we can tell based on Apple’s recent iPhone releases, 2016’s iPhone 7 will most likely see the Cupertino company launch two variants again. In fact according to a recent investor’s note from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, it has been revealed that we can look forward to 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch models.
We know, this is pretty obvious given Apple’s recent releases, but Kuo notes that there will be some changes made to the models to help differentiate them from each other. According to Kuo, he believes Apple will offer up different amounts of RAM for both phones, with the smaller model keeping the 2GB of RAM found in this year’s iPhone, and the Plus model to feature 3GB of RAM.
Prior to this, the main differences between both models (apart from size) is the screen resolution and the camera. Recently it has been observed that the larger iPhone 6s Plus is experiencing a bit of a frame drop, at least compared to the iPhone 6s. It has been speculated that the resolution might have something to do with it, so having more RAM could help in that department.
Kuo also states that the new iPhones will feature the A10 chipset, with TSMC being the sole provider. This is to be expected but unfortunately Kuo did not mention if the new A10 will be of the 6-core variety which is what we have been hearing, a huge leap from the current duo-core setup of the A9. Take it all with a grain of salt for now, but Kuo’s had pretty good success predicting Apple’s next move, so perhaps he could be right about this.
