Hangouts For The Web Gets Updated Calling Experience

There are many ways in which one can participating in video conferences, such as using Skype. However if you’re more of a fan of Google’s products and services, you might be pleased to learn that Google has recently announced that they will be introducing an updated calling experience to the web version of Hangouts.

According to a post by Google’s Eduardo Fernández, “Today, we’re introducing a new calling experience for Hangouts on the web that loads more quickly, renders video more sharply, and streamlines the interface so you can focus less on where to click and more on what to say.” Sounds good, right? However Fernández is quick to note that the updated version of Hangouts calling will not be available for Google Apps for Work customers, at least not yet.

Some of the updated features include calls that start faster and will stay crisper thanks to better quality video, although we suppose this will largely depend on the webcam you are using. Presumably what this means is that Google won’t compress the video too much in order to preserve its quality.

There will also be a more streamlined and immersive full-screen interface, and a simpler way to invite others users to join your call. The updated feature will be rolled out gradually so if you don’t see it yet, fret not as we’re sure it will eventually make its way to you.
