It was just yesterday that we saw how Google’s self-driving cars have received a brand new look. However, what is more important at the end of the day would be the substance underneath the looks that matters a whole lot more – as long as the self-driving car gets the passenger from point A to point B safe and sound, and on time, then it is a winner. However, the photo above shows how a motorcycle cop has pulled over a Google self-driving car – simply for driving too slow.
The Google car team in a Google+ post mentioned, “Driving too slowly? Bet humans don’t get pulled over for that too often. We’ve capped the speed of our prototype vehicles at 25 mph for safety reasons.” Google claims that they have a clean record to date despite being pulled over from time to time in the past. Google’s car team continues, “Like this officer, people sometimes flag us down when they want to know more about our project. After 1.2 million miles of autonomous driving … we’re proud to say we’ve never been ticketed!”
Hopefully by the time the Google self-driving car becomes fully operational and ready for the public, it will be able to do a whole lot better than plodding at 25 mph!
