Prior to this if you didn’t have the app, you’d have to install it or surf the mobile version of the website. However Google has recently announced some major changes that will actually allow you to stream the app, thus giving you an optimized experience and saving you from having to actually download the app.
According to Google, “For example, with one tap on a “Stream” button next to the HotelTonight app result, you’ll get a streamed version of the app, so that you can quickly and easily find what you need, and even complete a booking, just as if you were in the app itself.” Besides this, Google will also be introducing “app-first” content to its search results.
What does this mean? Basically this means that Google can now search within apps and display the results. Sometimes apps have certain results and features that its web version does not, such as special discounts. So basically the idea is that Google wants its search results to be as comprehensive as possible, regardless of what method you are looking for it.
