HBO’s Game of Thrones is a hit show, it’s close to a year since season 5 was aired and it ended by leaving us with more questions than it answered. I’m sure many of us are curious to know whether our beloved Jon Snow is really dead or not, and if a new report is to be believed, we may have to wait for considerably longer this time around for the Game of Thrones season 6 launch.
A new season of Game of Thrones normally premieres each April alongside new seasons of other HBO shows such as Silicon Valley and Veep. Polygon reports that it’s possible the launch may be delayed because HBO’s winter lineup of shows is coming later that it has in the past.
Vinyl is a completely new show by HBO which premieres on February 14th while Girls and Togetherness don’t return until February 21st. HBO’s shows run for 10 weeks which means that Vinyl’s first season ends on April 24th while Girls and Togetherness will run until May 1st.
There’s normally a one week break before a new lineup of shows hits the cable giant so going by this math it looks like the sixth season of Game of Thrones may not arrive until May 2016.
The calculations makes sense on paper but we can’t be absolutely sure this is how the schedule will turn out because HBO hasn’t confirmed anything as yet, speaking to the scribe a representative for the cable giant has said that it can’t confirm if anything has been pushed back because technically an air date hasn’t even been announced yet.
