Sony’s camera sensors are highly desired and that is no secret. In fact according to the latest rumors, Sony’s sensors are so desired that apparently for the 2016 Samsung Galaxy S7, the South Korean tech giant has reportedly entered into talks with Sony over the possibility of the Galaxy S7 using the same sensor as the Xperia Z5.
For those unfamiliar, the Sony Xperia Z5 series of smartphones features Sony’s IMX300 sensor. The sensor is apparently good enough where the folks at DxOMark have declared the Xperia Z5 as having the best smartphone camera, beating out phones from the likes of Samsung, Motorola, LG, and Apple in the process.
According to DxOMark, they claim that the Xperia Z5’s camera has good autofocusing, good white balance, and good color rendering. Samsung is another company known for putting out good cameras in their smartphones as well, and assuming this rumor is true, the Galaxy S7 could be quite a beast in terms of its capabilities.
So far what we do know about the Galaxy S7 is that it could sport a curved display and apparently there will not be a flat display variant. It is also rumored to be powered by both the Snapdragon 820 chipset and also Samsung’s own Exynos chipset. The camera is also rumored to be of the 20MP ISOCELL variety, so the rumors of it potentially using the Sony IMX300 is just icing on the cake. As is the case with all rumors, do take it with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys think?
