Despite the fact that Samsung makes some of the best high-end Android smartphones it still struggles to sell as many units as it would prefer. That’s primarily because its high-end smartphones are not competitively priced while it also struggles against other high-end devices like the iPhone. An analyst predicts that in order to boost sales of its next flagship Samsung will set the Galaxy S7 price 10 percent less than that of the Galaxy S6.
We did see Samsung adjust the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge prices earlier this year to maintain sales momentum, that slight change did end up helping the company sell more units of its flagship handsets.
Analyst Pan Jiutang believes that to sell more units Samsung will be willing to slightly lower its cut on the next flagship handset, which would mean that the Galaxy S7 price could be 10 percent less than the Galaxy S6.
It’s hard to put an exact dollar value on the change because pricing for the company’s handsets vary by market, but for example if you paid $649 for a base model of the Galaxy S6 you should expect to pay $65 less for the same model of the Galaxy S7 if there’s any truth to this analyst’s prediction.
Galaxy S7 is expected to be unveiled in January next year.
