Apparently, the canister purge valve that is located in the fuel tank might malfunction, and this could result in the top of the tank to crack and leak fuel. As a consequence, drivers might find themselves being caught in a car that has burst into flames, although Ford has mentioned that they are “not aware of any accidents, injuries or fires” resulting from the issue.
Affected vehicles will see their ECU software updated, while their respective fuel tanks will be inspected just in case a replacement is required. The other recall affects 13 F-650 trucks, where the column shifter’s park position mechanism could fracture – resulting in the truck rolling away unexpectedly. This is not the first time that Ford has issued a recall, but it would be nice if it will be the last.
