As you might have heard, earlier this year it was revealed that gamers who bought Fallout 4 for the Xbox One would be given a free copy of Fallout 3. Now the game will only be available to gamers come 12th of November because that is when Xbox One backwards compatibility will be going live.
Note that this is particularly important because if you did buy Fallout 4 for the Xbox One, the free Fallout 3 game bundled with your purchase won’t last forever if you don’t claim it. According to a report from GameSpot, they have noticed that in the fine print, it notes that the offer to claim your free copy of Fallout 3 will last until the 8th of February 2016.
This means if you forgot to claim it, after the 8th of February 2016 it will no longer be made available to you, and if you choose to play the game you will have to pay for it. We’re not sure why there’s an expiry date, but either way this is something you will have to take note of if you do plan on eventually playing Fallout 3, or if you want to play Fallout 3 first before moving on to Fallout 4.
In the meantime Fallout 4 has already been released for various platforms since yesterday. The free Fallout 3 bundle is still valid if you were to purchase a copy of the game for the Xbox One as it is not a pre-order bonus.
