A lot of businesses use Facebook to sell their products, they run ads and sponsored posts on their Pages to direct traffic to their websites and online stores. People have even created buying and selling communities on their own in the absence of a proper setup provided by Facebook. According to reports the social network is now testing a dedicated community for buyers and sellers called “Local Market,” apparently it’s being tested with a select number of users right now.
Some people have seen Local Market pop up in the Facebook for iPhone app often in the place of the Messenger button at the bottom center, it’s a properly structured marketplace for buyers and sellers featuring product categories such as appliances, clothing, furniture, gaming, kids, books, household and many more.
Facebook users can both buy and sell in their Local Market and will even be able to search the entire marketplace for items that they want using keyboards, item listings include categories, photos and price.
The world’s largest social network confirmed to TechCrunch that it is indeed conducting tests of Local Market but didn’t say if and when this marketplace will go live for all of its billion-plus users. “We are in the very early stages of testing new ways for more people to easily discover, buy, and sell items with other people on Facebook,” said a spokesperson for Facebook.
