Several months ago there was a rumor that Facebook is working on an app called Notify. Basically the idea is to provide Facebook users with alerts and notifications of breaking news while on the go. So instead of having to sort through your entire Newsfeed just to see the latest news while scrolling past photos and videos of your colleagues new baby and internet memes, the app will alert you when news has been reported from sources you care about.
In fact just last month screenshots of the app appeared, showing us what we might be able to expect. So the question is, when will this alleged Notify app launch? According to a report from The Financial Times (paywall; via VentureBeat), it seems that the app could be launched as soon as next week, so if you love being up to date on the latest happenings, this app could be worth checking out.
The report goes on to add that there will be dozens of media partners at the start. This includes Vogue, The Washington Post, Comedy Central, Billboard, and CBS just to name a few. We’re not too sure how the app will work, but based on the screenshots basically it seems that you can turn on/off notifications from media outlets, depending on your preference.
We’re also not sure how often you will be notified as we reckon that every article posted might end up being a bit too spammy, but either way if it really is launching next week, we guess we won’t have to wait too long to find out.
