A couple of years ago, Facebook introduced stickers to its Messenger app. For those unfamiliar, stickers are basically more elaborate emoticons. These stickers were popularized by the LINE messenger app and since then, we have seen other messaging platforms introduce them as well, like KakaoTalk and BBM, just to name a few.
At the time of launch all the stickers were free, but we speculated that there probably would come a time that Facebook would begin selling sticker packs and sure enough they have. However there is a small catch and that is Facebook themselves aren’t selling the stickers. Instead Facebook is working with a Singapore startup called PicoCandy who will be offering the stickers in packs ranging from $0.99 to $1.99.
That being said here’s another catch. The stickers can only be found in PicoCandy’s app for Messenger, meaning that users will need to install the app first before being able to purchase the stickers. No doubt this is a very convoluted process that will put off customers from purchasing it, but hopefully this is something Facebook will remedy soon.
In the meantime the stickers will be available for both iOS and Android devices, but like we said you will need to install the PicoCandy app for Messenger first, so once you’ve done that you should be able to browse the company’s library of stickers without any problems.
