The Call of Duty franchise has been running for many years now and we have seen various titles released under its banner. Given the number of shooters available, especially newer ones like Destiny, Halo, Titanfall, and the likes, you would think that a franchise like Call of Duty would be getting a bit long in the tooth.
However it turns out that the franchise is anything but. According to the numbers released by Activision, they claim that the latest Call of Duty title, Black Ops 3, managed to rake in a very impressive $550 million in global sales within the first three days of the game’s release. However it seems that despite that impressive figure, it is not the best selling Call of Duty title to date.
Based on the numbers, it seems that Black Ops 2 was an even bigger success as the game managed to earn Activision a whopping $500 million in the first 24 hours. According to the the forecast of analysts, they expect that Black Ops 3 is well on track to break the $1 billion mark, and given that the game is halfway there, we wouldn’t be surprised if it did.
In the meantime in terms of physical sales, it seems that console gamers make up the majority of purchases. According to our previous report, 91% of physical sales went towards the Xbox One and PS4 version of the game.
